Again this year, iCOP will be partnering with M.A.P.L.E. Microdevelopment.
MAPLE (Microdevelopment for the Alleviation of Poverty through Learning and Entrepreneurship) is a development organization currently operating in Uganda with plans to expand to Latin America, and is based in the United States. They provide tailored business skills education and entrepreneur-mentoring services to community groups engaged in savings and loan programs throughout Eastern and Northern Uganda. They are a group of students, university faculty, professionals and community members from both industrialized and developing countries who work together to create strong intercultural models of development and leadership training. They believe that to create meaningful change a program must work at the grassroots level while providing future leaders the knowledge and tools necessary to work towards institutional change. MAPLE is dedicated to three primary goals:
1. Community Development
2. Professional & Leadership Development
3. Research & Publication
